I’m no Prince Charming.

Most people know me as the drummer for Nothing but Trouble. Depending who you ask, I’m also a playboy, a loner, the life of the party, a screw-up, or according to my fans, “The Sexiest Rock Star on the Planet.” Apparently, I’m a legend.

Am I surprised? Hell, no. It’s a reputation I’ve earned behind my drum kit and behind closed doors. No one thought foster kid Landon Cox would become famous. Infamous, maybe. Notorious, probably. But successful? Never. No one except Piper Hastings. But I had to make a choice: my woman or my career. I picked fame and fortune… and spent every damn day since pretending I don’t regret it.

Now fate’s dropped Piper back into my life. I want to believe it’s a second chance for me – for us. But while I can give her a few great nights, I can’t give Piper a future.

Because there’s a difference between a legend and a fairy tale…
Only one of them ends happily ever after.

Rock Legend is the second book in the Nothing But Trouble series, I didn’t read the first one and I didn’t have any trouble reading this book so it’s great as a stand-alone. I’m pretty sure this was my first rock star romance and I have to say I really liked it, how come I’ve never read any before? They’re great.

This book in particular was a very unique experience because, as we all know, I have a tendency to absolutely fall in love with the heroes in books. I fall hard and die and it’s a whole shebang, but with this book I didn’t and it was weird to read and like the book without absolutely loving the main characters.

Landon is extremely sweet and very problematic but you instantly know his feelings are real and I really, really liked that. He also never frustrated me to the point where I wanted to pull my hair out which is a very big thing on the pros list. I did get a little annoyed at his ‘always getting in trouble’ ways but that’s the whole point of the book so it’s alright.

With Piper… I guess I just liked her. To me she was just a character which was a small let down because I like loving the characters and seeing them as more than just characters but sadly this wasn’t the case.

Overall the book was really good, I felt like it could’ve ended a lot sooner than it did and by that I mean that I felt like there was a little extra unnecessary filler in between the climax and the end of the book, but it’s not a major deal breaker.

I sadly didn’t absolutely love the book, but it was a nice romance story. Give it a try and let me know your thoughts about this book. I’d love to hear someone else’s experience.

ROCK KING – Nothing But Trouble #1

Fans of Kristen Callihan and Kylie Scott will scream for this sizzling bad boy rock star romance!

I’m not who you think I am.

Shane Hawthorne has it all. At least, that’s what the headlines say about me. I have millions of fans, awards, more money – and women – than I know what to do with. But what you don’t see is the wreckage I’ve caused. The memories and pain I can’t escape, even when I pour them into music and spin them into gold.

I tried to forget. To lose myself in booze and groupies. It didn’t work. It hurt me and – worse – it hurt my band. That’s the last thing I want to do, so I’m cleaning up my act… starting with Delaney Fraser.

Gorgeous, smart, drama-free, and even nice – Delaney is the perfect “girlfriend.” When I’m with her I don’t have to pretend. It’s like she sees the real me. And I can see a future with her. But that’s dangerous. Because the truth is, Shane Hawthorne doesn’t actually exist. He’s a shield to hide who I really am. Fraud. Runaway. Addict. Murderer.

And it’s impossible to love a lie, right?

  1. I read both this, and the previous book. My review for the second one will be up later this week. I liked it, but it wasn’t my absolute favorite either. You should definitely read the Stage Dive series by Kylie Scott. My favorite rock star romance that I’ve read so far. I recommend the audiobooks if you enjoy those. 🙂
