Review: Speakeasy by Sarina Bowen (True North #5)

Speakeasy by Sarina Bowen is available now!!

Read my thoughts on this amazing book!

Sometimes you fall for Mr. Right. And sometimes for Mr. Right Now…

Did you hear the one about the girl who walks into a bar and catches her live-in lover kissing someone else? No? You’re the only one in town who missed it.
Luckily Alec is there to wrap me up in strong arms and carry me out the door before things get too ugly. And that’s not all Alec is good at. Our unexpected chemistry makes him the perfect rebound guy.

I should know better than to hook up with my rival’s little sister, but the fiery look in May’s eyes really turns my crank. She needs cheering up, and I’m just the guy for the job.
It’s not like I’ll fall in love. Not even after a string of scorching hot trysts, and the realization that we’re good at the same things: wild nights and familial disappointment. I don’t do love, never have, never will. So this is the perfect arrangement, for both of us.
Nobody would approve, but nobody has to know…

Speakeasy is book five in the True North series by Sarina Bowen. It can be read as a standalone but there’s a chance you might run into some spoilers (I’m not completely sure thought!).

Sarina Bowen just won herself a special spot in my heart with this book. I love it beyond words. I couldn’t find the correct words to express how much/why I loved it three days ago when I finished reading it and I don’t think I’ll be able to find them right now so just know this review will most likely not make it justice.

Our main characters, Alec and May, are perfect for each other. They are one of my favorite couples EVER. They are both different yet so very similar in some ways. Alec is the life of the party, the guy everyone loves because he is so much fun but no one ever takes seriously. His sweetness, openness and sense of humor made me fall head over heels in love with him. May, on the other hand, has always been a bit misunderstood. She’s a recovering alcoholic and she’s still trying to figure out her sexuality. She is a strong and open-minded woman with a fun and lovable personality.

The chemistry between Alec and May is off the freaking charts! Their relationship is exciting, sexy, romantic, fun and powerful. They had me smirking and swooning and rooting for their relationship from beginning to end. Their love is so strong it can be felt deep inside your soul.

I cannot recommend this book enough. Sarina Bowen always writes wonderful stories but she kicked it out of the park with this one (for me, at least). It is an unbelievably refreshing, fun and romantic read that touches on some difficult topics like addiction. If I were you I’d one-click this baby right now!!

Massive thanks to Sarina Bowen for sending me a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
