Review: The Accidentals by Sarina Bowen

The Accidentals by Sarina Bowen will be available July 10th!!

Read my thoughts on this amazing YA debut!

A YA novel from USA Today bestselling author Sarina Bowen.

Never ask a question unless you’re sure you want the truth.

I’ve been listening to my father sing for my whole life. I carry him in my pocket on my mp3 player. It’s just that we’ve never met face to face.

My mother would never tell me how I came to be, or why my rock star father and I have never met. I thought it was her only secret. I was wrong.

When she dies, he finally appears. Suddenly I have a first class ticket into my father’s exclusive world. A world I don’t want any part of – not at this cost.

Only three things keep me going: my a cappella singing group, a swoony blue-eyed boy named Jake, and the burning questions in my soul.

There’s a secret shame that comes from being an unwanted child. It drags me down, and puts distance between me and the boy I love.

My father is the only one alive who knows my history. I need the truth, even if it scares me.

I present to you: a short and sweet review. I know I always say that and I end up writing humongous reviews but this time I’m really writing a short review because 1. I loved this book, 2. I’ve tried writing this review for hours but my mind is completely blank, and 3. I really loved this book.

I didn’t know what to expect going into this book. I’ve read books by Sarina Bowen before but this is her first YA book and while I hoped for the best, on the other hand I had no clue if a coming-of-age story written by her (AKA one of my favorites when it comes to contemporary romances) was going to do it for me.
Well, I made a discovery while reading this story. Sarina Bowen can write whatever the heck she wants and still give it her signature romance touch and still kick it out of the park all at the same time. I am blown away by that woman.

THE ACCIDENTALS is a story about a girl who lost everything in the blink of an eye and just as fast her life changed completely. Rachel went from living a quiet life with her mother to living with her father who also happens to be a rock star. You will not be able to stop reading Rachel’s story as she navigates through this new life, makes new friends and begins an adorable relationship with the cutest and sweetest guy ever. You will be smiling, swooning and even shedding a couple of tears here and there so please pick up this book because it is truly a fantastic story.

Massive thanks to Sarina Bowen for sending me a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
