Review: The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang is available NOW!!

Read my thoughts on one of my favorite books of the year!

A heartwarming and refreshing debut novel that proves one thing: there’s not enough data in the world to predict what will make your heart tick.

Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases–a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old.

It doesn’t help that Stella has Asperger’s and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practice–with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can’t afford to turn down Stella’s offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan–from foreplay to more-than-missionary position…

Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but to crave all the other things he’s making her feel. Soon, their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic…

I totally CALLED IT. When I first found out about this book I knew it would become one of my all-time favorite reads and for the first time in forever I wasn’t wrong—can y’all believe that!? I could just feel it in my heart and it totally happened. I am the happiest gal right now. But I’m a tad bit sad too because why did this beautiful book have to end? I want to throw myself on the floor and rant like a child. Life is so unfair!

You know that feeling you get when you are reading a love story that is equal parts smart, beautiful and passionate? The my-heart-is-too-massive-for-my-chest feeling? The once-I-finish-this-book-I-will-be-wrecked feeling? The how-can-anyone-write-such-an-awesome-story feeling? I got those feelings while reading this book. Helen Hoang blew my mind with her smart and beautiful writing. She nailed it with the plot, characters, writing, pacing and details. I swear she nailed every. single. thing. in this story.
Stella and Michael are the definition of real and diverse. They are wonderful characters and I promise you, you have never read about characters like them or a story as full of swoon worthy romance and sexiness as theirs.

I also need to mention the sexiness in this book because it truly is worth mentioning. I didn’t expect for this book to be so steamy but it is actually off the charts, out of this world or whatever you want to call it. It is innocent and a bit hesitant yet confident and passionate at the same time. My point is, this book is one of the sexiest books I’ve ever read. It is not too much and it is not raunchy, it is perfection because the romance PLUS the time between the sheets equals an unputdownable read.

THE KISS QUOTIENT is Helen Hoang’s debut novel and what a debut. This unbelievably wonderful romance story won my heart and I bet it will win yours too.
I cannot wait to read what Mrs. Hoang comes up with in the future. She is on the right track to becoming one of my all-time favorite writers!

Massive thanks to Berkley for sending me a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Helen Hoang is that shy person who never talks. Until she does. And the worst things fly out of her mouth. She read her first romance novel in eighth grade and has been addicted ever since. In 2016, she was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in line with what was previously known as Asperger’s Syndrome. Her journey inspired THE KISS QUOTIENT. She currently lives in San Diego, California with her husband, two kids, and pet fish.
